World Veterinary Cancer Congress
25-29 May 2016
Resort Recanto Cataratas
Foz do Iguaçu
The World Veterinary Cancer Congress (WVCC) emerged from an idea of Dr. Annemarie Kristensen and Mrs. Barbara McGehee, and a joint effort of the European Society of Veterinary Oncology (ESVONC) and the Veterinary Cancer Society (VCS). The WVCC is meant to connect the major global veterinary oncology societies, and to merge worldwide efforts in the study of animal tumors, with the aim to provide companion animals with cancer a better future. The first meeting in Copenhagen in 2008 was so successful, that it was decided to repeat the congress every 4 years. The 2nd WVCC in 2012 was held in Paris. Shortly after this meeting the Associação Brasileira de Oncologia Veterinaria (ABROVET) and the Japanese Veterinary Cancer Society (JVCS) joint WVCC.
Brazil has been chosen to host the 3rd WVCC in 2016, with ABROVET as the local organizer, in close collaboration with ESVONC and VCS.
International speakers will cover important topics in veterinary oncology, from epidemiology to the newest therapeutic approaches, and key studies from all over the world will be presented.
Foz do Iguaçu, situated at the borders of Brazil, Argentine and Paraguay, has been selected to host the 3rd WVCC due to its natural beauty, including one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World: the famous Iguaçu Falls. Foz do Iguaçu is home of the Itaipu dam, one of the world’s largest hydroelectric plants. The Bird Park, featuring a large collection of wild birds, and the "Bosque Guaraní", the city’s zoo, are places that should not be missed during a visit.
We hope you will be prepared for this adventure!
IMPORTANT: English is the official language of the event, but there will be simultaneous translation English-Portuguese during keynotes (morning sessions).
